Joe Rasor
Joe Rasor was sworn in as a San Juan College Board of Trustee on November 7, 2017, representing district 4.
A Bloomfield resident, Rasor worked in the Bloomfield Public School District. He served many roles including classroom teacher, guidance counselor, assistant principal, principal, Special Education director as well as the district superintendent. He was an adjunct professor at San Juan College, New Mexico Highlands and New Mexico State University throughout his educational career.
Rasor earned a bachelor’s degree from Eureka College in Eureka, Illinois. He was recruited by the Bureau of Indian Affairs to teach on the Navajo Reservation. In 1976, Rasor earned his master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling in Public School Administration from Northern Arizona University.
Rasor served on the San Juan Regional Medical Center board of directors.
He enjoys spending time with his wife, Julie, their four children and 13 grandchildren. He and Julie enjoyed serving the last 10 years as part of balloon chase crews for local balloon rallies and taking care of their self-proclaimed “overgrown petting zoo” at their home in Bloomfield.
